The property is lovely and has a very historical feel. The staff were very welcoming, professional and the property well maintained and clean. The room was huge clean and comfortable with a modernised shower and sink area. Unfortunately I was a solo traveller so a large room was a little lost on me. I was hoping to have a view of the river during this stay either from my room or from the Onsen. However to get the view of the river from the Onsen that is on the marketing material, requires a significant paid entry which is a little steep for a solo traveller. The river can only be seen from the lounge through a small side window as per attached photo. There was a lovely Zen garden and generally it was a good ryokan, just not what I had expected regarding the river view. I think this property is better suited for families and couples or more.
